Moussaoui's Guilty Plea

My friend Joe, seeing it was a slow day on the blog, sent me this story from ABC news about Zacharias Moussaoui's desire to plead guilty on charges that he was part of the plot to kill Americans on September 11, 2001.

I'm not in favor of the death penalty, and especially in this case. Killing Moussaoui would serve his need to be a martyr. Allowing him to sit in a jail cell for the rest of his life, with no glorious end at the hands of the U.S. government, would not be the type of story likely to provide a good recruitment tool for those seeking to increase the numbers of terrorists against the United States.

Let him grow old, gray and toothless and die alone.

But not putting Moussaoui on death row because it will give him what he wants is like forcing him to live in Beverly Hills as a rap star with drugs, pork and hookers (because that will give him what he does not want). The more we change after 911 the more he and his buddies have already won. I say put him down just like Tim McVeigh and all other terrorists.

Congrats on the great blog Pete. I'm not much of a hard-core republican, but I appreciate your point of view.
