Recovery Not the Issue

I guess your life is worth something only if you have a chance to regain "normalcy."

As Terri Schiavo began her 12th day without food or water on Tuesday, the feud between the brain-damaged woman's parents and husband escalated when the latter requested an autopsy once she dies in order to prove that she could not have recovered.
As I've stated in previous posts, there are many people who have feeding tubes and also have no chance of recovery. The issue for me is not whether someone can recover - it's whether they can live. Thanks to a slick lawyer and a willing judiciary, the courts have just set a disturbing legal precedent - it's okay to be sick, but just don't be too sick, or we'll have to take measures that will result in your death.
