More on Michael
Okay, maybe it is time to start a blogswarm on Michael Schiavo. From the Weekly Standard last year:
Once Terri's $750,000 was in the bank, however, Schiavo would not approve a single cent of it to be spent on rehabilitation. Not only that, but once the money was in the bank, Schiavo ordered a "do not resuscitate" order placed on Terri's chart so that if she had a cardiac event, the doctors would not attempt to save her. And within a few months of the money being deposited, Schiavo also refused to permit curative treatments, such as antibiotics for infections. If Terri had died during the early or mid-1990s, as Schiavo's orders were designed, he would have inherited somewhere around $700,000.I talked with my father this evening and he brought up a good point - if you or I starved an animal to death, we would be put in jail and vilified by the press.
But starve a woman to death under suspicious circumstances, and you get sympathetic interviews on Larry King. (h/t: Galley Slaves)
UPDATE - Greg from What Attitude Problem points us to this fine piece of propaganda from ABC News:
Though the legal wrangling in the Terri Schiavo case has been loud and contentious, the brain-damaged woman's physical response to having her feeding tube removed is likely to be very serene.Yes, Doctor. I'm sure it's wonderful. Maybe we should all try it."The process of starving to death seems very barbaric but in actuality is very peaceful," said Dr. Fred Mirarchi, assistant clinical professor of emergency medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.
Do these people think we're stupid? Wait, don't answer that.

» Terri Roundup from Conservative Friends
As you can guess, there's plenty of buzz this morning about Terri's case. I've personally spent most of the night (other than the hour I spent ranting at my best friend about the case) contemplating anything that I can do. I feel helpless on this. Just... [Read More]

Can you believe this from ABC News:
"The process of starving to death seems very barbaric but in actuality is very peaceful," said Dr. Fred Mirarchi, assistant clinical professor of emergency medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia.
Go read the whole thing.

Thanks for posting all this; Ace pointed your way. You have a good blogsite.
Anyway, I wonder what would happen if instead of huge crowds gathering to protest the Iraq war, or in Beiruit to protest the Syrians, if huge crowds would gather in witness to Terri's life, to protest this injustice, and to demand the President call a lazy, "do-nothing-serious" Congress back into immediate session to deal with this matter and not leave it half-dead in committee until the poor woman is dead.

I'm curious as to what kind of report ABC News would run if say the prisons in Texas started using this "peaceful" method for the inmates on death row...
